Brief Coaching

Brief Coaching – for want of a better term is a short and very focussed session – usually lasting no more than 20 -30 minutes – and can last around 15 minutes once you get the hang of it. If you look at the sample session page you will see the ongoing coaching relationship process described. We cut through this if you want to simply focus on a project, piece of work, of life issue you are stuck with and go straight to the bottom line to get you connected with action again. You need to call or email me prior to arranging your first brief session so that I can send you the outline alliance we work to when doing this work. This simply sets out the boundaries of the Brief Coaching session and outlines when this style of coaching is less effective. It will also provide you with a session focus plan to get you into a place of jumping straight into the coaching – ready to go and prepared to cut straight to the chase. This can be very effective for high pressure working environments when deadlines and timescales are paramount.

Programmes

Lay the Course
A programme for small groups of staff, clients or others who simply want to set a renewed direction for life or work. The focus of the programme is determined by the group themselves but the process follows key steps

• Introduction - Gives an outline of what will be covered in the groups (and possible individual sessions), sets the boundaries and expectations and develops a group agreement for working together in the group sessions.

• Values – Works on the co-active principal of Fulfilment and offers an experiential group session to begin the work of clarifying values, offering structures to support ongoing ‘practice’ in the Lay the Course programme and offers some tools like Future Self and Life Purpose which will be key personal elements for you to add to you own individual development toolkit. Homework and reading can be built in here to keep you working throughout the rest of the programme if we agree that this would be of value.

• Choice – Work on the co-active principal of Balance. It will offer tools of working with perspectives, generating new ways to approach decision-making and choice and give a clear step-by step model for choice in relation to the values that participants will be identifying.

• Process – Works with the issue of connection. How much are you connected to what is going on for you in your life or work NOW. How can you use this to turn negatives into positives? What is your ability to connect with what you are feeling and bring this into you life more?

• Toolkit - A session to pull together the learning that you have taken from the group sessions. This allows for key sharing of experiences and tips about what works and allows everyone to check in about where they are with it all.

5 Point Coaching
The ‘time for getting your finger out’ coaching programme which offers a series of short and focussed sessions to re-energise and bring back that edge which has blunted by running up against life. This is a programme aimed at individuals who want to get their life back on track and which can be applied to groups or teams in the workplace. Following some similar principals to ‘Lay the Course’ you will identify what it is that is important to you and work out what steps will move you in that direction. A simple handbook or guide which you work through as part of the programme assists you in describing, creating and implementing the action you want. For those who are committed to change in their life and work.

TIS Programme for workplace teams
TIS or Teams in Stasis does what it says on the tin – take a team of people who feel like they are treading water or just simply stuck and applies a healthy does of lubrication! Comprising of 4 distinct stages:

Session 1 - Designing the Partnership Alliance
• Short briefing on the principals of Co-active Relationship work. Developing how we will work together (includes modelling of the principles). Identifying the focus for the team building sessions

Session 2 - Determined in part by the outcomes of the first session but offering some work covering the following;
• Third Entity Work – The Voice of the Team: The relationship is what we are working with here. Consideration of the team as an entity and what it needs as a whole
• Constellation of the team (looking at the voice of the system – the dynamics of how the team are in relation to a particular focus)

Session 3 - Building on the result of what work is done in session 2, some work covering the following;
• Alignment Work- considering how the team can come together if there is an unresolved issue remaining unaddressed.
• Relationship Myths – What inspired you to come together to do this work? Reconnecting with the inspirational.

Session 4 is about Deepening the Learning and Forwarding the Action. As it says – locking in what has been learned together and identifying the action to follow and the accountability the team will take forward.

Personally lost

There are people who I have come across in the world who express a feeling of being lost – or having lost some essence of themselves and who they are. More importantly they have lost sight of who they want to be. This is an area of work which requires a coaching relationship over time so that you can explore areas in life and find your own path back to the person you want to become. This involves working with values - supporting your understanding and awareness of the core aspects of yourself that you have lost touch with, make some decisions on what action you want to take on this uncovered roadway and recconnect with the full range of experiences that life can bring. We will definately do some Future Self work and usually some Life Purpose work also.

Consultancy, Team Building and Training Projects

As an organisational consultant I bring a perspective of the outsider who can connect with where you are in your struggles with a project or challenge. I work with the individuals who make up the team as well as with the relationship that extends between the team members as an entity in its own right. This is a very real application of the thinking that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Some examples of the training work I do are;

I have worked with the following organisations and agencies;

Achieving

What do you want? Where are you heading now? What’s the place of possibility for you? If that rut is feeling like a downward spiral – doing some work to connect with just what is down there for you will assist you in determining where you want to go next. Setting up an ongoing coaching relationship is one option for working over a period of time and really locking in the benefits and learning that comes from taking time out for you, your business, your project or your organisation. I will develop agenda focussed work with you that addresses the areas you want to work on as well as building new habits and approaches to 'old ways'.
Beginning with a two hour Discovery Session we will scope out the way we will work together and the areas you want to address;
Values calrification work brings tools and attention to that core from which you operate- and sometimes get disconnected from - so that you are back in touch and clear about what is important for you or your organisation. You will begin to operate from a centre that informs and underpins the life, person, group or organisation you want to be. Balance coaching will give you new perspectives on the choices that exists on a moment by moment basis as life, projects and work unfolds. Learn how to quickly step into what is key for you at that moment of making a big decision: Frame choices around those values that you and your agency want to honour at that moment. Create alternative ways of looking at decisions that feel as if they continually come back to haunt you.

Working with Groups and Teams

I have facilitated group work focussing on specific topics that a number of individuals want to work on together – whether that be about personal development, creativity or working through some stuck aspects of being together as a group. You can sculpt the group dynamics in reality by creating a physical representation of how the members relate to each other. This brings clarity to the dynamics and allows reflection and choice about where to go next. Your group can create perpectives from which the group will operate and generate new habits for enhanced communication, generate energy and re-commitment to the goals of the group.
